“The goal is to get it right… day, after day, after day.” I said that 10 years ago when I first arrived here. It’s still true. At NBC 6, we strive to deliver Central Texas' most accurate forecast.
There is no hiding my drawl…I am a Texan. I was born and raised near the coast, where my fascination with weather began with Hurricane Carla….I was just five but remember the winds and rain howling over our home very well. Weather was a big part of my life as a youngster. Growing up on the farm, I would watch the thunderheads grow each afternoon from my seat on the back of a tractor.
After a successful radio career as a drive time personality and programmer, I went back to school to study weather. I earned a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University and the Television Seal of Approval from both the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association. My work has been recognized by the Associated Press in both Texas and Georgia. I’ve been “on the air” for 35 years, from Corpus Christi to Houston to Central Texas! In addition, I am a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.
In my spare time I’m a cowboy. I break and train horses. I’m decidedly “low tech” away from the studio…I have two antique, horse-drawn carriages. I am a member of the Historic Ft. Parker Society, Hubbard Rodeo Association and am serving as President of the Bell County Sheriff’s Posse. I ride competitively in a fairly new sport…Cowboy Mounted Shooting.
