I've always been a storyteller. When I realized I could do it for a living, my career path was obvious!
I joined the KCEN news team in October 2009 to co-anchor Texas Today. I also hit the streets and report each morning after my duties are done in the studio.
My prior experience includes two years anchoring and reporting at KGAN, the CBS affiliate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I was fortunate to cover some big stories such as the country's largest single-site immigration raid, the Iowa presidential caucuses, and historic floods that devastated Cedar Rapids and other Iowa communities.
In 2009, I was recognized for my investigative reporting and breaking news coverage with two Emmy nominations.
I received a masters degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in New York City. Prior to that I graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois where I studied Theater and Political Science.
I was born and raised in Mason City, IA and am a huge Hawkeye fan. Now that I'm in Central Texas, I'll start following the Big 12 teams, too. I am enjoying the beautiful Texas weather...Iowa winters are cold!
As a former competitive figure skater with daily 5 a.m. practices, I'm no stranger to waking up before the sun. I hope to see you bright and early for Texas Today.
