Employees' info exposed in another state data breach

Posted: Updated:

Another state agency might have released employee's personal information in a data-security breach.

The Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services believes up to 4,900 state employees' personal information may have been made public. "The HHSC Office of Inspector General is now investigating the incident, which also has been reported to law enforcement," said the DARS agency in a press release.

In April, a massive data breach released 3.5 million current and former state employees' birth dates, driver's license numbers and Social Security numbers to a publicly accessible website.
