Dr. Pritchard grew up on a farm and ranch near Winters, Texas. He is the oldest of four boys, and learned the value of hard work from his father and faith and perseverance from his mother.
He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Baylor University in 1971 and he was on track to pursue a PhD in physiology from the University of Houston, but had a change of heart prior to starting graduate school.
Not sure of what to do he worked at the Central Texas Red Cross blood center during the day and cooked hamburgers at the only McDonald's in Waco at night. His parents were really pleased that he was putting that college degree to good use!
Dentistry sounded good and he was accepted to dental school at Baylor College of Dentistry and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1975. Early in his dental education he developed a passion for surgery and he was accepted into the oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at Washington University School of Dental Medicine, in St. Louis, Missouri. The four years of specialty training were spent at the dental school, Barnes Hospital, St. Louis Veterans Hospital, St. John's Mercy Medical Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
After receiving his certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 1979, he accepted a position as assistant professor in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery. His responsibilities included teaching residents and serving as the principal investigator on a National Institute of Health research project on bone changes in the temporomandibular joint. He met his future wife, Katherine, in St. Louis and they married in January of 1981 and moved to Waco in March of that year.
Dr. Pritchard provides oral and maxillofacial surgery services for all ages. He has a special interest in dental implants, jaw reconstruction and obstructive sleep apnea.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Pritchard enjoys spending time with his family. He is especially proud that all four of his sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Summer camps and high adventure trips will keep you young at heart!
Dr. Pritchard's roots in agriculture and livestock are still strong; he enjoys working on his farm in McLennan and Bosque counties – having four sons helped!
Being outdoors as much as possible is a great stress reliever and running has long been one of his passions. He enjoys the competition of half marathons and trail runs.
Giving back to the community that has blessed him is important. He provides services for Mission Waco clients and has traveled on several mission trips to Russia and Mexico. He has donated services to many youth organizations in McLennan county.
