Baylor University is getting some unwanted publicity for the name of an independent study.
It was called "Homosexuality as a Gateway Drug." One sociology student planned to research the topic, under the direction of assistant professor Martha Sherman, for class credit.
Another student saw the listing of the study and found it offensive, so the topic name was changed to "Special Topics in Sociology." But not before a few websites got a hold of the original title and posted it.
The university says the situation is being blown out of proportion. They declined comment and the professor of the study did not return our calls and emails.
