VAN ZANDT COUNTY (KYTX) -- DPS has identified the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed Casey Eggeling, 16, at about 2:30 am Friday near Wills Point.
Rheubann Lann, 67, says he is responsible for hitting Eggeling, but authorities say charges will not be filed.
Lann was driving his 18-wheeler south on FM 47 on his way to Oklahoma when he hit what he thought were trash bags in the road. When Lann returned from Oklahoma, he heard about the hit and run and realized that what he may have struck was Eggeling, so he contacted authorities.
Casey and a friend were sleeping on the road when Casey was hit.
