MAGNOLIA, Texas (KPRC) -- A pit bull was blamed for the tragic mauling death of a one-year-old baby on Saturday.
Officials said just before 8 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home in the 27,000 block of Medina Circle in West Montgomery County.
Investigators said they found the baby had been mauled to death by a Pit Bull.
When deputies tried to approach the dog, officials said the dog turned on the deputies and tried to attack them. Deputies drew their weapons, shot and killed the dog.
Officials said the baby and his mother had just recently moved in with the grandparents. The baby was home with his grandmother at the time of the attack, and the mother had left the home earlier that day.
Investigators said the grandmother had to be taken by ambulance to a local hospital because of emotional trauma.
No charges have been filed yet, but officials are investigating the incident.
