COPPERAS COVE (KCEN)- A Killeen police officer accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a teenage girl was arrested in Copperas Cove Thursday.
Kirt Yarbrough Sr., 53, was arrested by Copperas Cove police after they became aware of an investigation involving an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old girl.
Yarbrough was arrested and charged by Killeen police on Jan. 12 for having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old girl.
The Killeen Police Department reported that on Dec. 13, 2011 Yarbrough took the victim to a motel located at 1816 Martin Luther King Jr. in Copperas Cove to engage in a sexual activity with the child.
After Copperas Cove police investigated the claim and confirmed the information, a warrant was issued for Yarbrough's arrest for sexual assault of a child on Wednesday.
Yarbrough turned himself in on Thursday and was taken to Copperas Cove Jail.
He received a $50,000 bond and remains in the Copperas Cove Jail, pending released once bond is posted.
