(KCEN) -- They're known to many as BCGs, or "birth control glasses," but soon military recruits won't have to sport these unfashionable frames.
Technically called S-9's, the frames inherited the nickname "birth control glasses" over the years because so many find the thick, dark frames outdated and simply unattractive.
The new, slimmed-down design will soon be available to all Army active-duty and reserve personnel.
The Army has made the change with hopes that military personnel will use them beyond boot camp.
