Fort Hood leaders are reaching farther than ever before to respond to questions and concerns from our military community.
Commanding General Don Campbell and three other key leaders from Fort Hood will host a two hour live town hall tomorrow from 6 to 7 p.m.
The questions will come in from Facebook and over the phone starting at 5 p.m.
The meeting will be live streamed on television and on the web, and some soldiers already have questions in mind.
SSG Robert Richardson is tired of waiting in traffic lines, so he's planning to call in on the phone line tomorrow.
"Now that Iraq has gone away, and Afghanistan will hopefully is dwindling down, we do have more soldiers here on post right now, and we have seen an increase in the last 6 months," said Richardson.
LTG Don Campbell says he expects traffic to be a hot topic
"That's usually a big one, whenever you have an instillation this big, and there's 17 gates, we've got to figure out how to get the flow better, and so we're working that hard," said General Campbell.
He says he also expects to hear concerns about downsizing, re-enlistment policy changes and medical care and that he hopes to get a change to address the changes on the horizon for the post, as it goes from 569 thousand soldiers on active duty to 520 this year.
"Every soldier needs to understand that their standard of conduct, their performance, their duty is something that's always counted, and it's going to continue to count," he said.
LTG Campbell says he knows some questions will be tough, but that they'll each get answered either tomorrow or in the following days.
"We'll get challenged with some questions that will probably hurt from the standpoint of that we didn't provide the best service that we should have in an area, and we've got to improve upon that, so that feedback will be important," General Campbell said.
SSG Richardson says he's glad so many will be able to participate, and that he hopes future technology will broaden the audience even more.
"I do hope it will continue, and hopefully they'll add on a little bit more," he said.
KCEN will broadcast the event on our Facebook page, web site and digital channel 6.2.
