The Orange County Sheriff's Office and Orange City Police Department have made 3 arrests after working together to investigate reports of drug activity at a local motel.
On January 19th, 2012 deputies and officers began watching the motel. They had information that made them believe that narcotics distribution was being coordinated at the motel.
During the surveillance deputies say they saw things that confirmed their suspicions. Deputies talked to some of the people staying in a room at the motel and got permission to search the room. During the search they found two ounces of crystal methamphetamine, digital scales, drug paraphernalia, and re-packaging bags for the sale of methamphetamine.
Deputies identify the people who were in the room as 37-year-old Scott Wayne Lewis of Bridge City and 36-year-old Danny Church Jr. of Nederland.
Deputies say while they were on the scene a third person arrived at the motel room, identified as 39-year-old Vernon Knape of Port Arthur.
Scott Lewis, Danny Church Jr. and Vernon Knape were arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
The crystal methamphetamine has a street value of approximately $6,600.00 dollars. Sgt. Chad Hogan with the Orange County Sheriff's Office says possible Federal charges may be filed.
