Military Rotations Could Push Back Hasan Trial

Posted: Updated:

FORT HOOD (KCEN)- Accused Fort Hood Shoot Nidal Hasan's trial could be pushed back even further, with the date right in the middle of summer military rotations.

The middle of summer military rotations is usually when senior officers transfer out.

Military law expert Brad Glendening says that could cause problems if the panel coming in from Fort Sill to hear the case gets caught in the shuffle.

"Statistically, that would mean that half of the court martial panel would be in the process of moving during the summer time, and of course, July is one of the primary months in which people move, Glendening says.

On Thursday Hasan's defense team was granted a continuance in the case after they requested more time to sift through evidence.

However, the team was denied an expert to determine how media coverage could affect his trial.
