
Waco, TX - The McLennan Highlanders moved to 5-1 on the season with a 4-1 win over the Midland Chaparrals this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
MCC began the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first. Brett Thornell drew a lead-off walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Ty Marlow then singled, moving Thornell to third. A wild pitch brought Thornell in to score and put Marlow on second. Marlow moved to third on a passed ball and Derek Barosh walked. Max Farmer then grounded out, allowing Marlow to score.
Midland's only run came in the top of the second as Jeremie Fagnan doubled and scored on a single by Steel Russell.
The Highlanders rounded out the scoring with two runs in the fourth inning. Farmer was safe at first on a Midland error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Reid Coover then grounded out, moving Farmer to third. Jonathan Mejia followed with a single to score Farmer. Caleb Williams then doubled to score Mejia.
MCC returns to action on Friday, hosting Odessa for a nine-inning game at 2 p.m.
