Waco Independent School District's superintendent Dr. Bonny Cain released her proposal for school closures and consolidations Friday afternoon.
In that proposal Cain recommends:
- Transition all fifth‐graders to elementary schools, all sixth‐ through eighth‐graders to middle school campuses, and re‐purpose Lake Air Intermediate.
- Consolidate the Alta Vista Montessori and Lake Waco Montessori programs into a single Montessori program on the Lake Air campus.
- Close Sul Ross Elementary and consolidate those students into Bell's Hill Elementary and West Avenue Elementary.
- Close North Waco Elementary and consolidate those students into Provident Heights,
- Dean Highland, and Cedar Ridge Elementary schools.
- Close Viking Hills Elementary and consolidate those students into Mountainview
- Elementary and Parkdale Elementary.
- Make Alta Vista a neighborhood elementary school.
- Close Meadowbrook Elementary and consolidate those students at Alta Vista
- Elementary and Kendrick Elementary.
- Close University Middle and move those students to the current A. J. Moore site.
- Close Brazos Middle and move those students to the current A. J. Moore site.
- Establish an attendance zone for Carver Middle School.
- Close A. J. Moore Academy and move the seven academies to University High and the
- JROTC program to Waco High.
- Consolidate the Alternative School campus and the STARS program at the former G.L.Wiley Middle building.
