Griner and Young Finalists for Olympic Team Roster
Lady Bear duo two of 21 listed as finalists.
Notes - Baylor's Brittney Griner and former Lady Bear and current WNBA standout Sophia Young are two of 21 players named as finalists for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Women's Basketball Team USA Basketball announced today.
Griner, a 6-8 junior post, is the only collegiate player on the list. While leading the top-ranked Lady Bears to an undefeated season so far at 25-0, Griner is averaging 22.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 5.4 blocks per game while shooting 61.7percent from the floor and 80.4 percent from the free throw line.
"This past fall when we competed in Europe, I was so proud to wear that USA jersey. I am really excited and honored to be included on the list, it moves me a little bit closer to checking an item off my bucket list," said Griner.
