WACO (KCEN)- A man was arrested after he attempted to rob a local convenience store in Waco overnight.

Police say Leon Childress, 44, went into the Skinny's at 18th and Lyle at 3:25 a.m., wearing a  Darth Vadar mask, acted as if he had a weapon and demanded money from the clerk.

When Childress reached across the counter towards the register the clerk was able to knock the mask off  his face.  Childress quickly ran away from the store.

Officers were able to locate Childress and arrested him at a home in the 1500 block of Herring Ave.  Police also obtained evidence to the robbery in the home.
