CHILTON (KCEN)- Fire investigators are trying to determine what might have caused a woman to set her own house fire.
The fire started just after midnight on the 100 block of Newby Lane.
Three fire departments responded and were able to quickly put out the flames.
One fire chief says they believe it was arson after they were tipped off by neighbors.
"The homeowner possibly set the house on fire upon our arrival. Probably about 45 minutes to an hour before we arrived on scene. They found the residents about 30 miles down the road from this location," fire chief Quincy Lee of Golinda Volunteer Fire Department said.
The homeowner is believed to be a woman, but nothing else has been released about her identity.
No one was inside the house at the time.
However, neighbors did evacuate in case the fire spread, but they are now back home.
