WACO (KCEN)- It was a happy ending for one Waco family after hours of searching for their loved one.
The search began just after 1 p.m. Thursday when an older man out on a routine walk didn't return home.
His wife called Waco police after she became worried that her 80-year-old husband had been out too long.
Police searched the surrounding area, with little luck until a man fitting his description, 6-foot and 185 pounds was spotted on Lyle and 18th Street.
Police say this was the ending both they and the man's family had hoped for.
"If it's a known runaway that's been gone several times, it may not get this response, however anytime that you may have someone with health conditions then we'll do these kind of response to try and find them as quickly as possible," Sgt. Patrick Swanton of Waco PD said.
The man returned to his home safely and suffered no injuries.
