Man Wanted For Felony Attempts To Run Over Officer

Posted: Updated:

TEMPLE (KCEN)- A man wanted in Milam County on a felony warrant was arrested in Temple Friday morning, but in the process attempted to run over an officer with his car.

Temple police spotted 44-year-old Oscar Martinez of Bell County just before 7:30 a.m. driving near the 14100 block of N. Highway 317.

When the officer attempted to pull over Martinez, he refused and rammed his car into the gate of his property.  The officer then exited his vehicle and chased Martinez because the broken gate blocked the police vehicle.

Martinez then attempted to hit the officer with his vehicle. The officer was able to avoid being hit and responding units arrived shortly after.

Martinez was then apprehended and taken to Scott and White Hospital with complaints of a leg pain.

Once treated, Temple Police say Martinez will be taken to the Bell County Jail.

Martinez is charged with the active arrest warrant from Milam County and aggravated assault of a peace officer.

Bond has not been set.
