AUSTIN (KCEN)-  The Texas Education Commissioner announced Friday the new Texas STAAR test will not count against students grades for high school students across the state.

This announcement goes against a previous requirement that the STAAR results would count toward 15 percent of core subject grades for high school students.

The change comes after public pressure.  Many parents shared their worries that poor test scores could make kids less attractive to universities.
