(KCEN)- A high speed chase with speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour ended in Killeen Monday morning.

It began just after 5 a.m. in Copperas Cove after a Dodge Ram, valued at $40,000, was reported stolen from the Relax Inn in the 1700 block of East Highway 190.

Police located the truck on Highway 190 and started to chase the suspect.

The suspect was able to drive into the Killeen city limits and that's when Killeen police joined the chase.

Spike strips were laid out just south of Creek Place Drive, which popped the driver's tires.

The driver then tried to run away, but was caught and taken to jail by Killeen police.

Criminal charges are pending on the suspect.

Copperas Cove police say the damage to the stolen vehicle was extensive.
