(KCEN) -- Two men hoping to marry, were denied a marriage license and hours later, they were arrested in Dallas.

Beau Chandler and his partner Mark went to the Dallas County Clerk Records building to apply for the license.

But they were turned down.

So they handcuffed themselves together and refused to leave.

Dallas sheriff's deputies arrested the men when the building closed.

Gay marriage is not recognized in the state of Texas.
