(CNN) -- Leaving your cell phone charging in an airport terminal seems like an innocent mistake, but police say a janitor at DFW was taking advantage of that kind of opportunity.
A teenage boy was charging his Iphone at in a terminal and mistakenly left it plugged-in when their boston-bound flight started to board.
Once in Massachusetts, he tracked the device using the "find my iphone" app, and saw it was still in terminal.
A little later, he noticed it leaving the south entrance and traced it to an Irving apartment. When investigators went to that janitor's apartment they found six iphones inside.
"He initially stated his brother had given them to him, because he worked for a phone company, so we called his brother and his brother said he's never given him any phones nor does he work for a phone company." said LT. Lonnie Freeman of DFW airport police.
It's doubtful that the airport janitor will go to jail because so far, none of victims have filed charges.
