COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M soccer team was listed at No. 5 in the Top Drawer Soccer Tournament 64 preseason rankings, the publication announced today.
The TDS Tournament 64 list is a prediction poll for the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The Aggies were the only Southeastern Conference (SEC) team in the top 10, and ranked above soccer powerhouses like No. 8 North Carolina and No. 9 Oklahoma State.
Among SEC schools, No. 14 Florida sat closest to the Aggies. Florida was picked to win the SEC East and the overall SEC title in the preseason coaches' poll earlier this month. A&M was picked to win the SEC West and to finish second overall in its first year in the conference.
No. 23 LSU, No. 25 Georgia and No. 31 South Carolina also made the list.
The 14th-ranked Aggies start the 2012 season in Irvine, Calif., taking on UC Irvine on Monday, Aug. 20. The team will return to College Station for its home opener on Aug. 25 vs. UTSA. To learn more about Texas A&M soccer, log on to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieSoccer on Twitter.
