Update: Man Shot to Death in Killeen - kcentv.com - KCEN HD - Waco, Temple, and Killeen

UPDATE (KCEN) -- Police have identified the victim in the shooting as 38-year-old-Jose Luis Mateo.

Vilmarie Mateo has been charged with his murder. She is being held in the Killeen City Jail and will be transferred to the Bell County Jail.

(KCEN) Update 9:30 PM -- Killeen Police are still investigating the death that happened on August 26,  just before 4:00 PM.

Officers received a 911 call at 3:53 PM telling them there had been a domestic dispute and shots had been fired at 2507 Wiley Drive.

When the officer's arrived they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound and a female inside the residence. 

It was later discovered that the 36-year-old female was involved in the domestic dispute.

She was taken into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail. 

The male victim, his age is unknown at this time, was pronounced dead at 4:34 PM by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin.

He also ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The couple's nine year old son was also inside the residence at the time of the shooting.

He was not injured during this incident and has been released to family members.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending the notification of his next of kin and the name of the female has been withheld pending the issuance of formal charges.

This incident continues to be investigated and information will be released as it becomes available.

(KCEN) Update 8:30 PM -- A man is dead after being shot to death inside a Killeen home.

Police were called to 2507 Wiley Drive around 4:00 this afternoon.

They got a call about a domestic disturbance but when they arrived they found a man shot to death.

Neighbor Sharla Lewis says, "No it didn't surprise me.  When I first moved into the neighborhood there wasn't a lot of action like this, you'd never see police officers, there wasn't a lot of drama.  But progressively as the years went on and on there have been more and more incidences like this."

The woman was arrested by police.

Neighbors tell us they believe the two were married but police have not yet confirmed that.

A young boy was inside the home at the time of the shooting and was taken into police protection.

(KCEN) -- In Killeen a man has been shot to death today. 

A young boy was found inside of the house where the shooting took place and was later taken into police protection.

A woman suspected to be in connection with the shooting is currently in police custody.

Police are investigating the scene and are waiting for a warrant in order to search the residence.
