(KCEN) -- Three new cases of West Nile have been reported in McLennan County pushing the number to 39 cases and five deaths in central Texas.

Overall 28 Texans have died from the virus.

In July 12 cases had been reported in McLennan County and August has seen 20 cases reported, bringing the total number of cases reported in the county this year to 32.

These 10 zip codes have seen West Nile cases: 76704, 76705, 76706, 76707, 76708, 76710, 76711, 76712, 76657 and 76624.

Be sure to empty any standing water on your property as water provides a good place for mosquitoes to thrive.

If you are experiencing West Nile symptoms, which can mimic the flu, you should see a doctor.
