(KCEN) -- Long time McLennan County Judge Jim Lewis has decided to retire after 40 years of service to the area.

After becoming a grandparent and with his wife's near retirement, Lewis determined he will retire as well. His last day to serve will be September 30 of this year.

Lewis worked in the Sheriff's Department, the Commissioner's Court and as a judge.

He says he will miss the people he worked with and his job but is looking forward to spending time with his family.
