(KCEN) - A Texas couple stuck in New Orleans is working to get back home.
Katherine Turner-Pearson and Warren Pearson were celebrating their 24th wedding anniversary when Hurricane Issac hit Louisiana.
"We were supposed to be here for our anniversary which was yesterday(August 29) when Katrina hit. The only reason we weren't here was because my husband got hurt in a mountain bike accident and broke his femur," said Turner-Pearson.
The two had booked a cruise and were locked into their trip.
She told KCEN HD News, "The military were coming in and they had police going up and down the streets and it just had this erie foreboding feeling."
The couple said, they were thankful the worst of the storm has passed and they made it through safe.
"What would be the odds, even though it's hurricane season, that you would have a hurricane on our anniversary in New Orleans again," said Turner-Pearson.
