UMHB VOLLEYBALL SPLITS ON FINAL DAY OF U.T.-DALLAS TOURNAMENT

Richardson, TX - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team split two matches on the final day of the U.T.-Dallas Labor Day Tournament Saturday in Richardson. The Cru opened the day with a three-set victory over Hendrix College before closing out the tournament with a three-set loss to Hardin-Simmons University. UMHB is now 3-1 on the year following the first weekend of the regular season.

The Cru opened the day with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-11 victory over Hendrix College. UMHB hit .277 as a team, posted seven service aces and recorded 6.0 team blocks. Tina Miller had a team-high nine kills while Morgan Baker added eight. Four other players had five kills apiece in a balanced attack for the Cru. Elise Butler led UMHB with 13 digs and Kendall Pye also reached double figures with 11. Shelby Prather had 23 assists, five kills, eight digs and three service aces.

The Cru then fell to Hardin-Simmons 25-16, 25-22, 25-21 in the final match of the tournament. UMHB hit just .025 as a team and could not find a rhythm offensively. Miller finished with eight kills for the Cru and Pye and Lauren Powell added five each. Prather had 15 assists and Morgan Baker led the team with 14 digs. Kendra Feldmann added 13 digs for the Cru.


UMHB will return to action with four matches at the U.T.-Tyler Tournament next Friday and Saturday. The Cru will then return home to open American Southwest Conference West Division play against LeTourneau University on Tuesday, September 11th.
