(KCEN) -- A ceremony was held Sunday in Washington to commemorate the 67th Anniversary of Victory over Japan Day.
V. J. Day marked the end of World War II more than four years after the attack at Pearl Harbor.
A wreath laying ceremony took place at the World War II Memorial on the National Mall.
Retired Marine Corps General Peter Pace made remarks.
Several veterans who served in the Pacific were on hand.
World War II vet James Nocifora says, "Never ever dreamed that I would ever be with the commander of the Marine Corps. And matter of fact, I think I served with his father."
Millions of people died in World War II, including more than 400 thousand Americans.
