(KCEN) -- At 1:10 p.m. the Temple Fire Department received an emergency call about a home on fire on Marlandwood Road in Temple.
A man called and said his attic was on fire. He had tried to put the fire out but was unsuccessful so he called 9-1-1.
Firefighters arrived and found flames in the attic, which they were able to quickly extinguish. They then ventilated the roof to let the smoke out.
A 2nd alarm was called on the fire only because of the high temperatures today. The Temple Fire Department did not want any of their firefighters to become over-exerted in the hot temperatures.
The fire has been completely extinguished at this time.
The extent of the damage and cause of the fire are still unknown.
