
(KCEN) -- One Waco man is behind bars after he allegedly broke into a woman's home and tried to sexually assault her.
On September 7 around 10:45 a.m. Bellmead police responded to LaClede Street for a call on sexual assault. The victim said the suspect came into the home and tried to sexually assault her. She struggled with him and then escaped and ran to the neighbor's house for help.
The victim gave a description of the suspect's vehicle and a description of the suspect. An officer saw a vehicle matching the victim's description and stopped the vehicle driving on the 3500 block of Bellmead Drive.
Officers identified the driver as 24-year-old Antonio Salinas of Waco and he was arrested for Driving While License Invalid. He also matched the description the victim had given to officers.
After Salinas was in custody in the Bellmead Police Department, detectives interviewed him and he confessed to the home invasion and attempted sexual assault.
The victim was treated at the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
Salinas was taken to the McLennan County Jail and booked for Burglary of Habitation and Driving While License Invalid. An emergency protective order application was also completed for the victim's protection.
Police say this was a random act of violence.
