(KCEN) -- Three new West Nile cases were reported in McLennan County over the weekend, bringing the total number of cases in central Texas to 49.

There have been more than 1,000 people infected with West Nile in Texas this year.

Forty-seven of those cases ended in death.

It's officially the worst outbreak the state has ever seen.
