
Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team defeated Southwestern 2-0 in Georgetown, TX on Tuesday. The Cru improves to 2-1 on the season, while the Pirates even to 3-3.
UMHB
outshot the Pirates 6-4 in the first half, gaining an early 1-0 lead
with a goal by Derek Geels at the 40:01 mark. Geels again contributed to
the Cru offense with an assist to Tyler Pate, who put the Cru up by two
at the 54:06 mark. The Cru outshot the Pirates 9-8 in the match, also
taking five corner kicks to the Pirates' one. Goalkeeper Brandon
Stegmeyer recorded four saves for UMHB. The Cru improves to 4-3 all-time
against Southwestern; the two last met on Sept. 13, 2011 when UMHB took
another 2-0 victory.
The Cru will face Texas Lutheran on Sept. 14th at 4 p.m. Friday and Schreiner at Sept. 15th at 4 p.m. Saturday in American Southwest Conference action. UMHB returns home to face East Texas Baptist at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 20th.
