Posted: Updated:

MIDLAND, Texas – Individual preseason play for the Baylor women's tennis team kicks off on Friday with sophomore Megan Horter competing at The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational from Sept. 14-16 in Midland, Texas.

"We are taking Megan to Midland to see where she is at," associate head coach Alison Ojeda said. "She is trying to incorporate a couple new things and she has been able to do it in practice, but now it is time to put it into match play. We are hoping this weekend is the same as it has been in practice, because she has been doing a great job"

In the first round of action this weekend, Horter will first face Penn State junior Chelsea Utting in the 64-player singles draw.

Horter compiled a 19-21 overall record during her freshman season, going 14-15 in dual-match play and 5-6 in tournament play. In the 2012 ITA preseason doubles rankings, she and partner Alex Leatu were list at No. 54.

In addition to Baylor, the field of teams in the tournament include: Davidson, Wichita State, Texas State, Nebraska, Arkansas, SMU, Texas, Tulsa, Tyler Junior College, Stephen F. Austin, Abilene Christian, Texas A&M, Penn State, University of Texas- Arlington, Texas Tech and TCU.

The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational is an invite-only competition where the players and coaches are housed with the members of the Racquet Club for the weekend. The last Lady Bear to win the invitational was Jelena Stanivuk in 2009.
