(KCEN) -- Today is the first day Apple will accept pre-orders for the iPhone 5.
The highly anticipated iPhone 5 was unveiled Wednesday in San Francisco.
The new phone is made entirely out of aluminum and glass.
It's also thinner, taller and lighter than its predecessors.
Apple says the iPhone 5 will operate at double the speed of the four and 4S.
Preorders start today in the U.S.
The phone five will be on store shelves in one week, on September 21.
