(KCEN) -- NATO air strikes killed eight women and girls this morning in a remote part of Afghanistan.
People shouted "death to America" and "death to the infidels" as they surrounded cars that carried the victims' bodies to the capital of the province where the attack took place.
Seven injured females, some as young as ten-years-old, were also brought to area hospitals for treatment.
A provincial government spokesperson said the attack wasn't coordinated with Afghan forces.
The deaths fuel a long-standing grievance against air strikes by International Forces Afghans say cause excessive civilian casualties.
The International Security Assistance Force said the incident was under investigation.
