Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- If you happen to see a 7 inch steel rod in the bushes you may want to stay away and call the police.

The Austin National Guard was called in to help look for this radioactive rod.

The rod was lost while an oil service crew was transporting a small piece of equipment across the state Tuesday.

The rod was lost while the crew was driving between a well in Pecos and another near Odessa the rod could be anywhere in the 130 mile area.

Texas health officials say the rod is stamped with the words "Danger Radioactive" and "Do Not Handle" along with a radiation warning symbol.

The rod is potentially dangerous if you find it, stay at least 25 feet away and call local authorities.
