UMHB FOOTBALL DUO CLAIMS CONFERENCE HONORS

Belton, TX – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football players Silvio Diaz and Chad Peevey have been named American Southwest Conference Players of the Week for their performance in the Cru's 32-25 win over #3 Wesley College on Saturday. Diaz took Defensive Player of the Week honors while Peevey was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Diaz, a junior defensive tackle from Leander High School, posted six tackles, three of them solo for the Cru. He had three sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss and forced a fumble while leading a defense that held the Wolverines to -4 yards rushing and 290 yards of total offense.

Peevey, a junior punter/kicker from St. Joseph's High School in Bryan, averaged 40.6 yards per punt on seven kicks and put two of those boots inside the Wesley 20-yard line. He also hit a 22-yard field goal and went 3-4 on extra points in the UMHB victory.

The Cru is 2-0 on the season following Saturday's win over Wesley. UMHB will return to action with a 6:00 PM kickoff at Trinity University next Saturday in San Antonio. That will be the final non-conference game of the year for the Cru.
