LSU Evacuated After Bomb Threat

Posted: Updated:

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — An evacuation order has been issued for LSU's campus due to a bomb threat. Details are limited at this time and no specific location on campus has been given.

LSU has asked everyone on campus to evacuate as quickly and calmly as possible.

The bomb threat also includes the University High School, which is located on LSU's campus. They are providing updates via Twitter. They say that those students who are unable to be evacuated by parents after 12:30 p.m. will be "…sequestered in the new gym. The gym is being swept by bomb sniffing dogs now."

Parents are being asked to pick their children up directly from the school gym.

The Baton Rouge Police Department is assisting the LSU Police Department to help direct traffic. However, LSU's campus maintains roughly 30,000 people daily. We're told that traffic conditions will be slow moving for sometime.

The Daily Reveille reports that University students who are without transportation should report to Broussard Hall (near WCA) and in front of Evangeline Hall (near Union). They say vehicle transportation is being provided at those locations.

We will continue to update this link as well as our Facebook and Twitter page as more information becomes available.

The University asks for everyone to avoid calling the school unless it is an emergency.
