UPDATE (KCEN) Twelve jurors have been selected to determine whether Skeen will serve jail time or probation.

McLennan County Commissioners Court held an emergency meeting and chose Former Waco City Council Member Randy Riggs as the new Tax Assessor.

UPDATE (KCEN) -- Buddy Skeen has plead guilty to the charges of misuse of government property and power and will resign from his position.

The potential jurors are now being split into smaller groups and being questioned behind closed doors.

UPDATE: September 18th, 9:15 a.m.

Buddy Skeen's motion to recuse Judge Matt Johnson from his trial has been denied.  Retired Milam County Judge Ed Magre believes Johnson showed no bias.

Now that a judge has been decided upon, Skeen could file another motion for a change of venue.

The Buddy Skeen trial has been put on hold after the defense motioned for the current judge, Matt Johnson to be recused.

An administrative judge appointed retired Milam County Judge Ed Magre to preside over the recusal hearing that will be held tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.

Based on Judge Magre's decision to either keep or recuse Judge Johnson, another motion for a change of venue could be filed.

The 66 jurors pulled today will be back in court tomorrow. They were given a questionnaire to help the defense and prosecution decide which jurors should be chosen for the Skeen trial.

Skeen is charged with misuse of government property and power.
