UMHB MG finishes 4th at Rhodes College Fall Collegiate Classic

Tunica, MS – Torrential rains washed out the final day of the Rhodes College Classic Tuesday in Tunica, Mississippi, leaving the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's golf team in fourth place in the team standings. The UMHB men fired a 296 team total to finish 15 strokes behind team champion Southwestern University's 281 team total. Emory University took second place with a 294 and Berry College claimed third, one shot ahead of the Cru with a 295. Centre College and U.T.-Dallas tied for fifth place with 298's. Transylvania University finished seventh with a 299, LaGrange was eighth at 301, Huntingdon College's 302 took ninth place and tournament host Rhodes College rounded out the top ten with a 303 team score. An 18-team field competed in the event, including UMHB's American Southwest Conference rivals, Texas Lutheran, LeTourneau University and Mississippi College. The tournament was played on a par-72, 7,125-yard layout at Tunica National Golf Course.

Justin Judkins fired the low individual round for the Cru. Judkins posted a 71 and tied for fifth place. Robby Schimmels tied for 10th after shooting 72, Bryce Myburgh carded a 76 and tied for 35th, Stayton Lindeman's 77 was good for a tie for 47th and Brady Purdom tied for 55th with a 78. Southwestern's Jordan Cowart won the individual title after firing a 65 on Sunday.

The Cru will now return home to host the only home tournament of the fall schedule. The UMHB men will host the Cru Fall Intercollegiate Tournament at Stone Tree Golf Course in Killeen on September 24th and 25th.
