
KERRVILLE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team scored four goals in their Monday
afternoon contest at Schreiner, winning the match 4-1. The win gives the
Cru their first conference win of the 2012 season, improving them to
3-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference action. Schreiner falls to 1-5
overall and 1-1 in American Southwest Conference play.
The Cru
first got on the board with an own goal by Schreiner. Chris Torres
scored of an assist from Nathaniel Fagnant to put the Cru up 2-0 put
before Ben Hammonds and John Williams both added unassisted goals for
UMHB. Schreiner's Nathaniel Olmos scored the lone goal for the
Mountaineers.
UMHB outshot Schreiner 8-5 in the match and also
recorded five corner kicks to Schreiner's three. Goalkeeper Brandon
Stegmeyer recorded two saves and allowed one goal in the match. With the
win, the Cru advances to 14-6-1 overall against the Mountaineers and 7-4 all-time in Kerrville.
The Cru will return to action Thursday, Sept. 20 when they host East Texas Baptist at the Cru SportsPlex at 7:30 p.m.
