(KCEN) -- The McLennan County Commissioner's Court has chosen a new judge to serve until 2014, at which time the position will be up for re-election.

Scott Felton was chosen to take the place of Judge Jim Lewis, who announced his retirement on August 28.

Lewis said in a  statement released at the end of August that he will miss the job but is looking forward to spending time with his family.

Felton will serve the rest of Lewis' term, which will be up for election again in 2014.

The Commissioner's Court also selected former Waco City Council member Randy Riggs as the interim McLennan County Tax Assessor/Collector.

Riggs is replacing Buddy Skeen, who is being tried in court for misuse of government property and power. Skeen plead guilty in court today.
