Brazos Valley Holds 5K Run In Honor of Shooting Victims

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) --  Nearly one-thousand runners showed their support for the families affected by the College Station shooting last month.

The Brazos Running Company sponsored the One Run 5k and one-mile race this morning.

Christy Northcliffe whose husband was killed and Barbara Holdsworth who suffered severe injuries after being shot both strapped on their running shoes to take part of the event.

Both agreed the support of the Brazos Valley has helped them through the difficult times.

Christy Northcliffe says, "When I heard about the run, I felt like Forrest Gump. I could run until the pain stops it's been giving me a reason to get out of bed."

"Makes you believe in miracles, made us believe in miracles that's for sure," says Barbara Holdsworth.

All the proceeds for the run will be distributed to the families.
