(KCEN) -- World leaders are descending on New York as a week-long general assembly of the United Nations begins this week.
On Sunday world leaders began arriving, welcomed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
Earlier this month, he said the ongoing conflict in Syria will lead the agenda.
The President will also be in New York today, but he's leaving the UN meetings to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Obama will attend the general assembly on Tuesday.
