(KCEN) -- SpaceX has taken one more small step and they hope to take an even bigger leap in space travel.

The company's Grasshopper vehicle has completed its first successful test flight in McGregor.

Grasshopper's first short hop measured 6 feet.

But they're hoping to make it hover at around 100 feet over the next couple of months.

And SpaceX plans to make this project even more cost-efficient by building future models out of its re-used Falcon 9 rockets.
