(KCEN) -- If you have prescriptions you no longer need police departments across Central Texas to invite you to bring them in.

It's a part of the drug take back initiative to get rid of unwanted or expired med's.

In the last drug take back people turned in more than 550 thousand pounds of drugs nationwide.

That gets them off the streets keeping prescription users and loved ones out of harm's way.

Temple Police have already wrapped up their program but you still have a chance to drop your med's at the Waco Police Department and Smith Middle School in Killeen.
