FAA Issues Warning for American Airlines Pilots

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- There's a new warning for American Airlines pilots as their apparent slowdown continues to take its toll on passengers but this latest warning isn't from the airline.

The FAA is now reminding pilots and American that federal regulators are watching as delays and cancellations continue.

In an email response to one pilot the FAA says the agency is "currently conducting specialized operational risk surveillance on American Airlines operations which, among other things, is focused on frivolous maintenance discrepancy reports."

American Airlines passenger Tom Proshaka says, "I think the pilots are hurting themselves, and they're hurting American too in the long run and the passengers are the ones who are suffering."

The president of the pilot's union warned members that any unnecessary checks and frivolous maintenance write-ups must stop.
