UPDATE: Driver In Temple Fatal Crash Charged With Manslaughter

(KCEN) UPDATE 9/30 5:00 PM -- The Temple Police Department Traffic Unit Accident Reconstruction Team reviewed a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter with the Bell County District Attorney's Office today.  

A warrant was obtained from Justice of the Peace Barfield charging 21-year-old Ramon Rivera with the death of 35-year-old Shelly Easter.  

Rivera was taken into custody at Scott and White Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for injuries from the accident.

He will be transferred to the Bell County Jail following his release.

(KCEN) UPDATE 9/30 2:00 PM --  On Saturday at 8:13 PM Temple Police and Fire and Rescue responded to a call for a major traffic accident at Avenue M and 51st Street.

When units arrived they found a blue SUV traveling west had crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a tan SUV head-on.

The westbound vehicle was driven by a 21-year-old male from Nixon, TX. 

He was transported to Scott and White Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. 

The driver of the other vehicle was identified as 35-year-old Temple resident Shelly Easter.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Ivey.

According to the investigation the blue SUV had been traveling westbound at a high rate of speed prior to the collision.  

Avenue M between 49th to 53rd Streets were closed until 1:30 AM while the Temple Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team gathered evidence.

(KCEN) --  A person is dead after a car accident in Temple this evening.

It happened on Avenue M and South 51st Street.  

Police are still working the scene right now and aren't sure exactly what happened.

They do know two SUVs collided at around 8:15 PM.

One person was killed on sight the others were taken to the hospital.
